Family Law
At AWD Law, we aim to find the right solution for you. Whether you are looking for advice on the next stages following a relationship breakdown, you are looking to secure your future through a cohabitation/ pre-nuptial agreement, or you cannot agree with your former partner on financial or child arrangements, we are here to help.
Oi-Yuyn Wong, Partner, Solicitor & Head of Family and Helen Clarkson, Associate & Mediator of the Family Team, are experienced in advising on all aspects of a relationship breakdown, whether it has been a marriage, cohabitation, or civil partnership. If the financial division upon divorce cannot be reached then we can assist with the use of alternative dispute resolution options, for example Arbitration or Collaboration, or often as a last result, an application to the court to commence Financial Remedy proceedings.
If matters cannot be agreed in relation to the arrangements for the children then we can provide you with legal advice and assistance in making applications to the court for a variety of Orders. For children, we can assist with applications for Child Arrangements Order’s to determine who the children should live and spend time with. We can also assist with seeking Prohibited Steps Order and Specific Issue Orders, which are often required on an emergency or ‘without notice’ basis. We will advise you throughout, explaining how each decision could impact you and your children and the likely outcome of any Court case.
We listen to our clients and provide high quality advice to meet individual needs. Our friendly manner and personable approach is evident when you enter our office.
Services we offer:
- Divorce, Dissolution and separation
- Financial division upon separation
- Military pensions on divorce / dissolution
- Family mediation
- Cohabitation/ Pre-nuptial agreements
- Arrangements for children
Both Oi-Yuyn and Helen are members of the National Organisation Resolution whereby they commit to working in a constructive and child focused way. Oi-Yuyn Wong is also a Resolution Accredited Specialist and has completed a rigorous assessment to demonstrate the highest levels of legal knowledge, practical application of the law and best client practice.
They are also trained Mediators. Mediation offers an alternative approach to discuss practical issues in a safe environment, perhaps with your ex-spouse or partner, which can arise from family or relationship breakdowns. The aim is to achieve an out of court agreement to reduce considerable stress and expense.
Here at AWD Law, we offer new clients a free no obligation 30 minute consultation which includes general advice and information with options and estimated costs to move forward.
We also offer a 10% discount on our fees (excluding disbursements) to all serving HM Forces personnel and Police.
